The stress of Christmas gifts.

Thursday, December 4, 2008

I love my husband more than life itself.

That being said, does anyone else stress themselves into possible daily puking over what to buy the love of your life? I don't know what it is? Sometimes it's that I never seem to pick out the right thing. Sometimes it's just that I stress so much I refuse to buy anything and just let him buy it. Sometimes I stress so much over absolutely nothing - he loves what I've bought.

What's a girl to do?

So today I was so stressed I just sent him an email, told him I knew what I wanted to buy but didn't want to buy it if he didn't want it b/c the return policy wouldn't allow him to take it back after Christmas. I didn't tell him what it was, but I will if I have to.

He's always so good with my gifts, and never stresses out. THIS is why I stress out!!

Do you see what I have to measure up to?

Oh, I love my hubby!!!

This year I already know what my GF is getting me so she is stressed that I won't have a surprise. I will be happy just to watch the looks of surprise on her and her daughter's faces when they open what I am giving them. That is the best gift for me.

Oh yeah. Matt is the king of great gift giving. But the hard thing about him is that he rarely WANTS anything. And if he does it is something gigantic, like a car. Sigh. I just give him money. That makes him happy, but SO not romantic.

I can def relate! I am stressing about what to get my hubs, especially since he is telling me he doesn't want anything! In years past he would give me clues, ahh!

My husband is hard to buy for, too. Mostly because he never really wants anything so he doesn't ever say it out loud...unlike me who always has the "I wants"!

hmm, what about ideas for a hot wife? Mine is and dunno what to get her. She knows about something im going to get her, but that doesn't count since it's not a surprise anymore... boo hoo

There was a study a few years back that said the longer you are with someone, the more you tend to buy gifts that YOU would want instead of what they would want. The researchers found that the longer you were married, the harder it came to distinguish between your wants and your partners' wants from a gift giving perspective.

Funny stuff. I know I make it hard for my wife because I don't really want anything either. Now I know why dad's always get clothes and stuff like socks for christmas.

My husband seemed to always HATE my gifts because he always returned them and got something he "needed". So I stopped buying for me. Now he wishes I would.

I am always so excited about what I get my husband and then he always guesses what it is.

My husband only wants music instruments that are like thousands of dollars - I leave those for his parents to get him. I just usually get him clothes that I want him to wear but he won't buy himself - ah the season of giving.

let's get acquainted

THE Stephanie
I’m Stephanie - wife to one extremely handsome cop; mother to two extremely silly kids. The hubs and I have been married since February ’99. I love him more each day and simply can’t get enough of him. My daughter, Ashton, is 12 going on 17. She’s beautiful, creative, smart, and oh, so sassy. Taylor, our son, is 8 and is so much like his daddy it’s scary. He makes me laugh all the time with the silly things he says and does. He won’t remember what you told him 5 minutes from now, just like his daddy. I love to laugh and spend time with friends and family. I’ve also recently discovered a love for cooking and enjoy sharing recipes. I love finding new blog friends, so be sure to leave a comment so I can do the same!
